Deck Maintenance

You should perform a deck inspection once per annum. A good time to inspect your deck is between late February to mid April. The reason for the range is the weather starts getting warm in March and by May, it is time to start enjoying the great Texas outdoors. As with a considerable outdoor gathering in The Woodlands, it usually hinges around your backyard patio deck or elevated wood deck. It is very important to make sure the deck is structurally sound and can support the weight that it may be required to hold. If you do find that repair is needed you should have your deck repaired as soon as possible. If everything looks OK now is the time to go around and make sure all the screws and nail heads are driven down completely, wash the deck, and seal the deck against the elements.

Create a Punch List

After you inspect your deck and create a list (punch list) if maintenance and repair items start with easiest and work up the more difficult. By time, you start getting to the end of your list you will have a list you can have our decking crews do any minor repairs and the remaining of your maintenance items.

Pressure Wash and Seal your Deck

Now that your punch list of deck maintenance items has been completed it is time to pressure wash and seal your deck. You could do this yourself or have our deck crews complete the task after all the repairs have been made. By pressure washing the deck it will remove any mold, mildew, discoloring, grease, and dirt. After the deck is clean, seal it to keep it looking good and keep the water from penetrating the wood.
